We believe every person is entitled to a safe place to call home. For those who have no home, we are their home and we are proud of that.

Our Locations

It has been a wet summer, however any kind of summer is good no matter what. We have had a bit of very hot weather but nothing our air conditioned spaces can’t handle. For those who are out living rough, it never hit a critical level.  As for us at  your Shelters, we are busy as usual. We have our main shelter spaces full of people who want support and to find a better path in life. Our amazing staff are there to help the residents with the challenges that come from becoming homeless. Our Continuum Model of operations has proved to be a terrific model to help people stabilize, get proper supports and to get them successfully housed. We are returning to more normal operations  after a few years of COVID disruption. This means we are again focusing on getting our people into the housing they need and can maintain. Being Housing Focused means that we have expectations of our residents and we work to make sure they are meeting their goals. The primary one being able to access a safe place to live. .
As you will see in the pictures above, we have added two beautiful apartment buildings to our properties. These are transitional housing units, which allow for a person’s continue journey to independence. Mim’s House was the first to come on line with a couple of one bedroom apartments. Aberdeen 2 came on line next with a couple of two-bedroom  apartments. Aberdeen 2 is reserved for indigenous single moms and their children. We are working closely with the Turning Leaf Foundation and St. Mary’s First Nation with this project. If you would like to learn more about our new Transitional Spaces you can send us an email  at info@theshelters.ca or call 450-1102!
We are always looking for good quality furnishings for those who are moving into their own homes. Donations can be arranged by calling the Shelters at the above number.

The support from our friends in the community:

The Fredericton Homeless Shelters Inc is continuing our successful Sponsor A Bed campaign for 2023. We are a charitable organization that has been operating in the Fredericton community for over 35 years and serve over 300 individuals every year. Through our three shelters we provide safe harbor for 40 individuals each day. We do this because of the support we get from you in the community.

You can purchase it directly using the donate now link

We have many community partners and are always looking for more businesses who want to do something but don’t know where to start. The answer is to start with us. With the Continuum we are making a difference. We are running a success rate of over 87% permanently housed for people who come through our Continuum model. That is something to get behind!!

The Shelters is a rule and behavior based organization that works with people as individuals, some with complex problems and some not so much. We offer a supportive environment for those who find themselves homeless with support for mental health issues, addiction issues, poverty, legal, medical and more. It is our firm commitment to help people achieve their goals that makes us a success, however, we also understand that it is their journey and not ours or yours. We help, we support and we celebrate the success. We invite you to become part of our success story.
